Bayside Christian Church is a local congregation of the Assemblies of God in Australia. The Assemblies of God in Australia is a movement of Pentecostal churches in voluntary cooperation. Each individual church is self-governing but commits itself to work together with other churches in the movement for the purpose of mutual support and the spread of the Gospel in Australia and around the world.
Tim & Nicki Edwards, Senior Ministers of Bayside Christian Church, are no strangers to Geelong. Both were born and raised here and had been involved within the local community for a number of years prior to starting the church.
In establishing the church, Ps Tim and Nicki had a huge desire to help people connect with God knowing that positive change in people's lives strengthens the local community.
They set out to create a church that is contemporary and full of life - a place where people can experience the message of truth, hope and love. The foundation of the church has always been to develop strong relationships in an environment that is warm and friendly.
On Sunday 25th March 2001, a handful of people attended Bayside's first ever service in a rented school hall on Rosyln Road Highton.
And it grew...
By the end of December 2003 Bayside had grown to over 200 people with many more visiting each weekend. Our meeting place for the past two and a half years was noticeably too small. It was now time to find a new place to meet!
In December 2003, Bayside moved their Sunday services to Grovedale College, where the church continued to flourish and grow. Our latest figures show approximately 300 people in attendance most Sundays with around 400 being cared for each week.
However all numbers do is show one small part of a healthy church. Bayside has a very strong focus on community life, children, and the creative arts.
We aim for a church where people can love God with a passion, love people as a priority and love lives of purpose.
Everything that we do reflects our belief that God can use us to impact our community.
